Neterus are beings who embody the divine force of the Light. They are sent to assist mankind once every thousand years. It can be either male or female. In the Vampire Huntress Legend Series, the current Neteru is a female. For 3,000 years, the Light sent male Neteru's. They couldn't protect the normal human females during pregnancy so they sent Damali.
A Neteru is a sensor… one blessed with all spiritual gifts of normal Guardians, but yet stronger, more naturally skilled, and thus considered omnivoyant (in possession of all extrasensory capacities.) But this special being is also different physically than the other Guardians. Although mortal like his/her Guardian brethren, The Neteru’s bone structure and muscle mass is denser, his/her skin is more elastic, vital organs are more shielded by extra layers of ligament and tissue—to enable The Neteru to sustain injuries during battles that might be life-threatening to the normal human… The Neteru’s metabolism burns faster… and their antibodies along with an unbreakable spiritual will, are designed to converge upon a demon or vampire bite and purge the system of the viral infection to ward off a possession or vampiric turn. The Neteru has a natural immunity to a demonic or vampire bite.
Powers & Abilities[edit | edit source]
- Extrasensory Perception - Is a sensor, one blessed with all of the guardian spiritual gifts, but yet stronger, more naturally skilled, and thus considered omniscience.
- In Minion, Damali experiences what feels like an electric current running through her system. Images quickly flash through her brain and she gets a metallic taste on her tongue. She's able to see the individual grains of sand in the cement steps across the street from her while on a stakeout.
- Neteru pupils expand to eclipse their irises, allowing them to see in the dark.
- Superhuman Stamina - But this special being is also different physically than the other Guardians. Although mortal like his/her Guardian brethren, The Neteru’s bone structure and muscle mass is denser, his/her skin is more elastic, vital organs are more shielded by extra layers of ligament and tissue—to enable The Neteru to sustain injuries during battles that might be life-threatening to the normal human. - Superhuman Strength - Damali was said to have the strength of an adult male at 15.
- Offspring - A Neteru female can give birth to a daywalker if made with a Vampire or another Neteru if made with a guardian during their ripening cycle. Outside of the ripening cycle, they can create more guardians. The reverse holds true for male Neteru's in apex.
- Ripening/Apex Scent - The smell of a 'ripening' female Neteru will lure male vampires, most notably masters and interfere with their ability to think clearly. Females will go into a rage and attempt to fight the female Neteru. A male Neteru will cause the male vampires to attack them and will lure the females to them who will attempt to sire daywalkers with them.
Guardians[edit | edit source]
Neteru's are guarded by 7 or 12 Neteru Guardians. Neteru Guardians are elite special forces guardians with increased sensory awareness in their given talent. For more on Neteru Guardians, seen the full article: Neteru Guardians.
Death[edit | edit source]
When the Neteru dies that spirit essence, that life force ascends and conjoins with all the forces of The Light to serve the Higher good from the unseen positive realms. A Neteru's body is traditionally cremated to prevent it from being taken and misused by the dark forces.
